// Elissa Sursara for Tiger Time & David Shepherd//
Elissa Sursara has teamed up with David Shepherd CBE and the David Shepherd Wildlife Fund to promote the DSWF Tiger Time campaign. Here is Elissa wearing the signature (olive) Tiger Time shirt and a description from her blog:
My wonderful friends at TigerTime are fighting a noble fight: to end the barbaric tiger trade. Run by David Shepherd CBE, a British conservationist and coordinated by Chantelle Henderson, the organisation aims to protect and preserve the last 3,200 wild tigers – an endangered species disappearing at an astonishing rate. The campaign is backed by Ricky Gervais, Samantha Fox and Stephen Fry, and as a result of their worldwide distribution, TigerTime now has over 100,000 supporters. The organisation has granted more than £75,000 to tiger projects in Russia, India and Thailand, and with your support, they fund vital anti-poaching patrols, undercover investigations, educational programmes and monitor activities central to the survival of tigers.

The tiger is one of the world’s most iconic and majestic animals, but large scale urbanisation has pushed the tiger out of it’s historic range; and while hunters reduce their populations, tigers are forced closer to human settlement in search of food and water. The species is hunted for it’s pelt and body parts for an underground illegal market, their furs a sign of luxury while their meat, bones and teeth are used in traditional Chinese medicine.
Once ranging widely across Asia, from western Turkey to the eastern coast of Russia, these solitary cats have lost a devastating 93% of their range.
Please check out TigerTime and support their efforts to brighten the future for tigers by adding your name to the Ban Tiger Trade petition and/or contributing a donation to fund and continue their vital work.
